STYLE ICON: Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver (1976)

A 70′s Lolita and old before her years, Taxi Driver‘s Iris, the pubescent prostitute saved by Robert de Niro in Scorsese’s masterpiece, is a total screen babe. Check out the crop tops, the floppy hats, hot pants with tottering heels and the heroine chic make-up.

The role earned the then 14 year old Jodie an Oscar for Best Supporting actress, an accolade she most definately deserved for her portrayal of Iris. Vulnerable but hard as nails, and oh so glam, Iris is definitely a Monday morning inspiration.

“I spent four hours with a shrink trying to prove I was normal enough to play a hooker. Does that make sense?” – Jodie Foster, aged 13.

“Normal is not something to aspire to, it’s something to get away from.” Jodie Foster

  1. Your website is fantastic, great stuff.

Just a small correction here: Foster was only nominated for an Academy Award for Taxi Driver. Her first win didn’t come until 1989, with The Accused.
